I WANT A BABY!, REVisited (lecture), 2017 HD Video, 24 min 47 sec
Winner of First Prize, Sofia Queer Forum 2017 Video Competition: Red Love
I Want a Baby!, REVisited is a lecture gloss by the artist on Sergei Tret’iakov’s censored Soviet 1926 play "I Want a Baby!"
Beallor discusses the details and context of the play while traversing historical and contemporary themes of love, social change, utopia/dystopia, desire, pregnancy, eugenics, queer conception, parthenogenesis, ‘lost causes,’ and more.
The artist's partner is filmmaker, audience, and interlocutor. A conversation about pregnancy, parenting, and queerness interrupts the lecture, bringing attention to the bodies at work (in numerous ways) in the space.
Beallor is 6 month pregnant during the first lecture and Beallor’s child is 4 months old in the final lecture.
